FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Does my medical plan cover COVID-19 tests and treatments?
If you believe you've been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms, contact your healthcare provider immediately. Currently, most carrier's health insurance plans do cover the COVID-19 test and cost-sharing during the national emergency period But it's always recommended to contact your carrier or agent for confirmation.
Q1: What is insurance and how does it work?
Insurance is a legal written agreement (i.e. policy) between you and an insurance company. The company agrees to provide guaranteed compensation for specific losses (i.e. claims) pertaining to health, property, automobile, liability, etc. that you incur throughout a determined time frame (i.e. coverage period). In exchange for the compensation, you agree to pay the company a monthly fee (i.e. premium). Often the compensation is paid directly to a third party, such as a doctor, lender, service company, beneficiary, etc. on your behalf. Before the company starts paying the compensation, you might first have to pay a fixed amount (i.e. deductible) of your claims. Once you satisfy your deductible, you might still be required to pay a percentage (i.e. co-insurance) of your claims until you've paid out a maximum amount (i.e. max out of pocket). Once you've paid the max out of pocket, the company then compensates 100% of your remaining claims up to the maximum compensation limit agreed upon in your policy.
Some health policies include a small fee (i.e. co-pay) that you can pay for a service, like a doctor visit, or a prescription drug, without having to first satisfy the deductible.
Insurance can be complicated. At Tolliver Insurance Group, we strive to help make it simple.
Q2: Are there discounts that might apply to my situation?
Yes! Everyone's situation and needs are unique. Many insurance companies offer discounts based on factors like bundling products together, number of insureds, location, and more. Never pay more for insurance than you need to!
Q3: Am I required to have health insurance?
For individuals, it's no longer illegal to be uninsured. Today, the cost of a short ER visit can easily climb to thousands of dollars. It's best to have some type of coverage
to avoid catastrophic financial loss should a health crisis occur. There are many plans available at surprisingly affordable rates.
For businesses with less than 50 employees, you're not required to provide health insurance to employees. For larger groups of 50+ employees, medical coverage is mandatory in most US states. Regardless of number of employees, providing employee insurance benefits has proven to create positive effects on employee morale and retention. There are ways to offer coverage at little or no cost to your business.

At Tolliver Insurance Group, our independent insurance brokers are appointed with all major insurance companies. We give you multiple quotes for all your coverage needs.
